When does Cineplex post new showtimes? It depends on the theatre
There's no national release time for Cineplex tickets. Each theatre posts its own schedule, when the people running it decide to. That one fact is the reason CineNotify exists.
The question everyone asks
Search r/cineplex and the same question keeps coming up: what time does Cineplex release next week's schedule? In one thread, the top answer says to check back Tuesday evening, then adds that it depends on the theatre. One location might post at 6 p.m. and another at 9 p.m. the same night. Another reply says Wednesday morning is the only time you can count on every theatre being up.
That matches how it works. Each theatre's managers set when their week goes live. Two theatres in the same city can post hours apart, and neither announces it.
What we saw when we checked
On Monday, October 26, 2026, we looked at what Cineplex was listing for Scotiabank Theatre Toronto:
- Tuesday to Thursday that week had a full schedule, 13 to 14 movies a day.
- From Friday on there were only two special events. The next regular week wasn't posted yet.
- December 17 to 31 already had Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday on sale, including three IMAX preview showings of Dune on December 17.
- From January 8 on, Cineplex listed nothing at all.
So the coming Friday wasn't out yet, but a movie seven weeks away was. The weekly schedule runs on one rhythm and big releases run on another, and both vary by theatre.
Why refreshing doesn't work
Say you want the middle of the IMAX auditorium on opening night. Everyone else who wants that seat is refreshing too, and none of you know when to refresh. It could be 6 p.m. at your theatre, 9 p.m. at the one across town, Wednesday morning, or seven weeks early for a big release. Check at the wrong time and the good seats are gone by the time you look again.
CineNotify does the checking instead. You pick the movie, theatre, date and format. It checks Cineplex's public listings every few minutes, all day, and emails you once when a matching showtime is posted. If the showtime is already sold out, it can watch the seat map and email you when seats open up.
Set up a showtime alertWhat it can't do
CineNotify can't get you tickets early, and it doesn't hold seats. It tells you the listing or the seats appeared, and you buy on Cineplex like anyone else. A seat can still go before you finish checkout. It's an independent service and isn't affiliated with Cineplex.
